I finally published my personal blog

After some hesitation, I finally decided to put my thoughts out into the world.
Publishing my blog wasn’t an easy decision—I went back and forth on it for a while.
But now that I have a VPS to tinker with, it feels like the perfect excuse to finally go live!

The beginning

I wanted to start a blog for a long time, but I wasn’t sure where or how to begin. Writing has never been my forte.
Although I’ve been writing digital notes and personal insights since years, I always doubted whether my writing were good enough for public eyes.
Compared to some articles on Medium, my writings are very unprofessional.

But then I found out people are publishing all sort of content on their personal blog, in their own unique ways. And strangely enough, I liked those blogs a lot.
There is something special about personal blogs: a genuine connection and authenticity that comes directly from the writer.
That is exactly what I want to create.

When did I started

Honestly, I didn’t know where to start or even how to start. I just knew I wanted to do it.
Over the years, I had piled up tons of notes but I wasn’t sure which ones are worthy of being a blog articles or been shared publicly.
The final push I needed came from Sacha Chua’s little book: A no-excuses guide to Blogging. I discovered her blog through my interest in Emacs . Her book gaves me the motivation to start.

In July 2024, after that, I set up a local blog environment on my computer and started writing some contents.
I wasn’t ready to publish them yet, so they remained private—until today.

What’s my goal

To me, a personal blog is more about the person behind it and their interests than anything else.
After all, a blog is a web log —a personal space to share and document one’s journey whether that’s learning, sharing or reflecting on experiences.
And that’s exactly what I intended to do here. Along the way, I hope to improve my writing and communication skills.

Fun fact: I’ve read somewhere that Emacs users tend to write really lengthy blog posts.
Well, it’s no joke — most of the time, it’s true! Prot’s blog is a great example of that.
I admire the depth and style of their contents, and I aspire to reach that level of writing someday.

Looking ahead

Now that my blog is live, I’m excited and nervous at the same time to publicly share my thoughts —along with the few posts I’ve written in the past but never published.
I plan to keep writing and sharing as I go.

Thank you for stopping by and reading. I hope you find something here that interests or inspires you.
