Omarchy is a beautiful OS. DHH has done wonderful work on this. Extremely customizable with low effort and sane defaults.
If it were a few years ago, I can easily see how it could be my daily driver. I’ve always wanted an OS with a UI I can customize to my taste, but the cost in time and brainpower was heavy. LLMs solved that, and Omarchy is leveraging exactly that.

Omarchy is a chef’s kiss for those who love “ricing” their OS.

What I like about it:

  • Default tiling window manager
  • Comfortable to use
  • Malleable to the extreme
  • Easy to fix if anything breaks

Things worth considering:

  • LLM & AI Agent: The extreme malleability of Omarchy is not free of cost. You still have to pay for the LLM.
  • Distractions: Because it’s easy to customize, you’ll probably spend a lot of time exploring the possibilities, which is theoretically infinite.
  • Privacy: Unless you use a local LLM, be aware that your personal data might be sent to the LLM providers.

I love seeing Linux distros with beautiful default UI like Omarchy. It makes Linux really appealing. But I know I won’t be using them as my daily drivers. I’ve long settled for the simplicity of Debian: pretty boring I admit, but it works so well and gets the job done.
